Imogen Hancock

Freelance translator of French and Italian specialising in legal and financial documents.

About me:

I hold an MA in Applied Translation from the University of East Anglia and a BA in French and Italian from the University of Leeds.

I started my translation career in 2007 when I joined Temple Translations Ltd, a specialist legal and financial translation company based in London. I completed a 2 year traineeship as part of the in-house translation team during which time I received extensive mentoring and feedback from other translators of French and Italian. After successful completion of the traineeship I was promoted to staff translator, taking on responsibilities such as supervising trainees and interns, independently translating 3000 words a day and proofreading and assessing the work of other translators.

In 2011 I took the decision to go freelance and now work from home providing the same quality of service for carefully chosen translation agencies and direct clients. I am committed to continually developing my professional skills and have attended CPD courses on legal translation at City University and I am an associate of the Institute of Translators and Interpreters which also regularly organises workshops and events.
